Andover is a town in Allegany County, New York. It is part of the Southern Tier region. The town is located approximately 100 miles southeast of Buffalo and approximately 120 miles west of Binghamton. , Andover’s population was estimated at 1,600. Andover was first settled around 1795 and formally established as a town in 1824. The town used to be smaller, however in 1855 it acquired more land from a neighboring town. Currently, Andover covers roughly forty square miles. There is one hamlet in Andover, named Elm Valley (formerly Shoemakers Corners). Additionally, the town encompasses one village, also named Andover.
