Catharine, New York
Catharine is the name of a town in Schuyler County, New York. It is considered part of the Southern Tier region and considered part of the Finger Lakes region. It is roughly twenty miles north of Elmira and roughly twenty miles southwest of Ithaca. The town is named after Catherine Montour, a prominent Iroquois leader. , Catharine’s population was estimated at 1,700 and encompassed one village and two hamlets. Odessa is a village. It is the town’s main population area and location of most town businesses. The hamlets are Alpine and Catharine.
