Deerfield is a town in Oneida County, New York. It is part of the Central New York region, located just north of the City of Utica., the town population was estimated at 4,000. Deerfield makes up thirty-three square miles. The town was formed in 1798. The main residential areas in Deerfield are the hamlets of Deerfield and North Gage.

Taking NYS-12 southbound will bring you to Deerfield Heights, where a large interchange waits. The interchange connects NYS-12 to I-90 (the New York State Thruway) and I-790. Taking I-790 will bring motorists to downtown Utica.
The speed limit on NYS-8 and NYS-12 is 55 miles per hour unless otherwise stated. This speed limit is often a problem for motorists. The NYS-12 is a wide highway that rarely has traffic.
