Traffic Tickets in Eastchester
Most traffic tickets in Eastchester are issued by officers of the Eastchester Police Department. They conduct traffic stops for various violations, including speeding, using a cellphone, and disobeying a traffic control device. The Town of Eastchester Justice Court (Eastchester Town Court) has jurisdiction over town roads. The only exception is roads within the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe. Each village has its own justice court that has jurisdiction over village roads. The Eastchester Justice Court is located in the town complex that is accessible via Howard Avenue and Mill Road.
Getting a traffic ticket does not mean you have to plead guilty. To the contrary, it is often imperative that you plead not guilty. Pleading guilty to a traffic ticket means you will in all likelihood end up with points on your driving record. Multiple violations can be costly and puts you at risk of losing your driving privileges. Pleading “Not Guilty” does not mean you are disputing any facts. It merely means you are requiring the People to prove their case. Requiring the People to prove their case is your Constitutional right.
This is where an attorney comes in. Often, instead of proving their case to a skeptical and tough attorney, the People will be willing to negotiate. Your lawyer can submit the not guilty plea on your behalf and then make any necessary court appearances in your place. While in court, your attorney can negotiate with the prosecutor and discuss your case with the judge. A good traffic lawyer should be able to, at the very least, modify the violation so that all points are eliminated.
