Enfield is a town in Tompkins County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region, just west of the City of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake. The town encompasses the hamlets of Bostwick Corners, Christian Hill, Enfield Center, and Whipple Corner., Enfield’s population was approximately 3,300. The town covers thirty-seven square miles, with most of it being farmland. Enfield was established in 1821 as part of the Central New York Military Tract. This was a program that granted parcels of land to Revolutionary War soldiers as compensation for their military service.

In the western part of town, it intersects with County Route 136 (Waterburg Road), which runs north and south. Near the center, it intersects with New York State Route 327 (Enfield Main Road). This road runs north- south as well. Just east of NYS-327 runs County Route 137 (South Applegate Road). This road also heads north and south as it intersects NYS-79.
