Florida is the name of a village in Orange County, New York. It is located approximately sixty miles northwest of New York City at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. The village covers approximately two and a quarter square miles. It is part of the “Black Dirt Region” – a farming area in southern Orange County known for its extremely dark, fertile soil left from an ancient glacial lake. The Village of Florida is within two towns. Most of the village is inside the Town of Warwick. A small portion of the village is inside the Town of Goshen., the population of Florida was estimated at 3,000.
