Geneva is a town in Ontario County, New York. It is located along the western shore of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. The City of Rochester is approximately sixty miles northwest of Geneva. The town surrounds the City of Geneva. The town is larger but the city is more populated. The town encompasses the hamlets of Billsboro, Billsboro Corners, Border City, Lenox Park, and Pre-Emption. The name of the latter originates from an 18th century treaty between New York and Massachusetts. , the town population was approximately 3,426.

The main north-south road in town is New York State Route 14 (NYS-14). Through the town it is named West Lake Road and runs along the Seneca Lake shore. The main east-west road is the combined US-20/NYS-5. It runs between the City of Geneva and the City of Canandaigua. All traffic violations alleged to have occurred in the town are adjudicated in the Geneva Town Court (Town of Geneva Justice Court). It should not be confused with the Geneva City Court.
