Genoa (pronounced Jenoa) is a town in Cayuga County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region and sits on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. Genoa makes up forty-three square miles of mostly farmland. The closest metropolitan area is the small city of Ithaca, around twenty miles south. The larger city of Syracuse is around fifty miles northeast.
Genoa encompasses the hamlets of Atwaters, Bowers Corners, East Genoa, Five Corners, Genoa, Goodyear Corners and King Ferry Station.The town was established in and named after the capital of the Liguria region in Italy., the town population was around 1,800.
