Greenport is a town in Columbia County, New York. It is considered part of the Hudson Valley region and is approximately thirty-seven miles south of Albany. The Hudson River forms most of the town’s western border. Greenport surrounds the City of Hudson on its northern, eastern, and southern sides., the population was approximately 4,690. Greenport was established in 1837, making it the last town formed in Columbia County. The hamlets of Greendale, Greenport Center and Lorenz Park make up the town. Rogers Island, an island in the Hudson River, also falls under the town’s jurisdiction.
