Huron, New York
Huron is a town in Wayne County, New York. The town sits on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, approximately forty-five miles northwest of Syracuse. The Sodus Bay forms the western town line. The town was given its name to honor the Huron, an indigenous people that lived around Lake Ontario. Huron encompasses the hamlets of Bonnie Castle, East Bay Park, Furnace Village, Lake Bluff, Lummisville, North Huron, Resort, Rice Mill, Sunset View, and York. The town contains several small islands as well. They are named Charles Point, Eagle Island, LeRoy Island, and Newark Island.

The southern part of the town is mostly farmland. The lakeshore is composed of several bluffs. Huron encompasses the Chimney Bluffs State Park. According to legend, during the Prohibition, smugglers used the area as a landing point while transporting liquor from Canada.
