Lansing is a town and village in Tompkins County, New York. The village is within the town. Lansing is part of the Finger Lakes region and is located on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. Early settlers were from Michigan and named the town after the capital of their State of origin. Lansing is a large town, covering seventy square miles., the town had an estimated population of 11,500. Lansing is a few miles north of the City of Ithaca. Heading south on this road will bring you to the Village of Lansing, the neighboring village of Cayuga Heights, and New York State Route 13. NYS-13 is a highway and runs east-west along the southern town line. Running north and south along Cayuga Lake’s eastern bank is New York State Route 348 (Ridge Road). It passes several communities before it intersects NYS-34 in Terpening Corners. After crossing NYS-34, NYS-348 continues east until it leaves town.
