Ledyard is a town in Cayuga County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region. Cayuga Lake forms the town’s western border. The town covers a total area of forty-eight square miles, most of it being farmland., the town’s population was approximately 1,600. Ledyard was founded in 1823. It was named after General Benjamin Ledyard, an early settler. The town contains one village and several hamlets. The village is named Aurora (not to be confused with the town in Erie County). The hamlets are Black Rock, Ledyard, Levanna, and Willets.

In the south, it is County Route 43B (CR-43B).

The town does not have a local police department to conduct traffic patrols. That responsibility is given to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police. They typically focus on the main roads in town like NYS-90. Many tickets are issued to drivers as they enter the village. This is usually for failing to adjust their speed. The speed limit in Aurora is 30 miles per hour. Outside of the village, it fluctuates between 55 and 40 miles per hour. Any ticket issued in Ledyard will be made answerable to the Ledyard Town Court (Ledyard Justice Court). This includes tickets issued in the village of Aurora.
