Locke is a town in Cayuga County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region. The northern border of the town is around ten miles south of Owasco Lake. The western border of the town is around ten miles east of Cayuga Lake. The town is less than twenty miles from the small cities of Cortland (to the east), Ithaca (to the south) and Auburn (to the north). The closest large city is Syracuse, around fifty miles northeast.
The town is named after John Locke, an English philosopher. Locke is roughly square sharped and covers a total area of twenty-four square miles. Most of the town is farmland, though it also encompasses the Fillmore Glen State Park., the town had approximately 1,800 residents.
