Macedon, New York
Macedon (pronounced MASS-i-din) is a town in Wayne County, New York. It is located around twenty-five miles east of the City of Rochester and around fifteen miles south of the Lake Ontario shore. The town was named after Ancient Macedonia, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. The area was first settled in 1789 and developed significantly in 1825 with the construction of the Erie Canal. Macedon encompasses the hamlets of Huddle, Wayneport, and Yellow Mills. The Village of Macedon was disbanded in 2017 and is now a hamlet as well., the town population was estimated at 9,000.
