Madison is a town in Madison County, New York. It is part of the Central New York region. The town is located around 40 miles southeast of Syracuse, around 25 miles southwest of Utica, and around 25 miles south of the small city of Oneida. The Town of Madison is forty-one square miles of mostly farmland. The town encompasses the Village of Madison and the hamlets of Bouckville, Madison Center, Sigby Corners and Solsville., the total population was approximately 2,727. The county, town, and village are named after James Madison, the 4th US President. The town is best known for the Madison Wind Farm, the first ever wind farm completed in New York State.
Traffic Tickets in Madison
The main road in the town of Madison is US Route 20 (US-20). It heads east and west through the town’s northern area. The US-20 is the main road for the village as well. It meets several other roads as it crosses town. Intersecting US-20 just east of Madison is New York State Route 26 (NYS-26). It runs north-south. In the village, US-20 intersects County Route 41 (Solsville Road) and County Route 83 (South Street). CR-41 approaches from the north and CR-83 approaches from the south. New York State Route 128 (NYS-28) is another road worth mentioning. In traverse the town in two places. The first would be in the southwest corner where it runs northwest and southeast. This segment of NYS-128 provides access to the Hamilton Municipal Airport. The other segment of NYS-128 is found just north of the first one. This time it runs northeast and southwest. This segment meets US-20 just west of the village.
The Madison Town Court (Town of Madison Justice Court) adjudicates all of the traffic violations issued in town. Court sessions are held at the Madison Village Hall. The court handles a variety of traffic violations, a substantial portion of which are speeding tickets. Traffic stops in town can be conducted by New York State Police or Madison County Sheriffs. The village has a small police department that can issue traffic citations.
