Mamakating (pronounced: MAMI-kay-ting) is a town in Sullivan County, New York. It is located in the Catskill Mountains, approximately eighty miles northwest of New York City. There are two villages in the town, Bloomingburg and Wurtsboro. Mamakating also encompasses several hamlets., the total town population was estimated to be 12,600. Established in 1743, Mamakating was the first town created in Sullivan County.
