Marcellus is the name of a town in Onondaga County, New York. It is located just southwest of Syracuse and is considered part of the Central New York Region. It is also located just north of Skaneateles Lake and Otisco Lake, making the town part of the Finger Lakes region. Like many of the other towns in Onondaga County, Marcellus was named after a Roman military leader.
Within the town, is a village of Marcellus. It is the main population area and location of most businesses. The town also encompasses the hamlets of Clintonville, Marcellus Falls, Marietta, Rose Hill, Shamrock, Thorn Hill, and Sage Meadows., the total population was estimated at 6,000.
