New Lebanon is a town in Columbia County, New York. It is approximately 25 miles southeast of the state capital, Albany. The eastern town line is the Massachusetts border. Across the state line is the city of Pittsfield., the town’s population was approximately 2,583. New Lebanon was established in 1818. It broke off the town of Canaan, hence the Levantine type name of New Lebanon. The town consists of several hamlets. They are Lebanon Springs, New Britain, New Lebanon, New Lebanon Center, and West Lebanon.

NYS-22 is the largest north-south bound road that cuts through town along the eastern town line. It meets with US-20 in Lebanon Springs before continuing south. The southwest Hamlet of New Britain is accessible via County Route 9 (New Britain Road). It enters town from the south and terminates as it meets County Route 34 (Hand Hollow Road). CR-34 connects to US-20 in West Lebanon.
