Norwich is a city in Chenango County, New York., the population was approximately 6,883. The city is surrounded by the larger - though less populated - town of Norwich. The area is generally considered part of the Central New York region. Norwich is located approximately forty miles northeast of Binghamton, approximately sixty miles southeast of Syracuse, and approximately one hundred miles west of Albany. The city is the county seat, meaning it is the location of all county government offices and courts.
