Oneonta (pronounced: OH-nee-ON-ta) is a city in Otsego County, New York. It is located approximately eighty miles southwest of Albany and approximately sixty miles northeast of Binghamton. The city is surrounded by the Town of Oneonta. The town is larger but less populated., the city population was estimated at 12,800. Students from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College form a large portion of the city population.
