Otisco, New York
Otisco is a town in Onondaga County, New York. The western town line is formed by Otisco Lake, the easternmost of the eleven Finger Lakes. The town is considered part of the Finger Lakes region. At the eastern town line, Otisco is around twenty miles south of Syracuse, so it is also considered part of the Central New York region.
Oticso makes up thirty-one square miles of mostly farmland. The town contains the hamlets of Amber, Bay Shores, Gamble Mill, Maple Grove, Otisco, Otisco Valley, Rice Grove and Williams Grove. As of December of 2022, the town population was approximately 2,300. Otisco was formed in 1806. Historians believe the name of the town was derived from the language of local Native American tribes.
