14 Mar Out of state tickets with New York license: Advice
Putting everything else aside, New York drivers have one advantage over out of state drivers. Unlike most other states, New York will not put out of state traffic convictions on your driving record. This means no points in New York and more importantly it should not affect insurance premiums. There are some exceptions including but not limited to CDL’s and drivers from some Canadian provinces. This means if you have regular New York license and you get regular run of the mill ticket in another state it probably makes sense to just pay it because for all practical purposes it amounts to a parking ticket. This is general advice only and you should probably consult with a traffic ticket attorney for your specific case.
