Plymouth is a town in Chenango County, New York., the population was approximately 1,850. The area is considered part of the Southern Tier and Central New York regions. It is located around fifty miles northeast of Binghamton and around fifty miles southeast of Syracuse. Plymouth consists of forty-two square miles. The town first saw settlement around 1794. In 1806 it was established as a township. The town was referred to by several names; mainly “Frenchtown”, “Frank Town” and “Francistown”. This was in honor of their early French residents. Several hamlets make up the town. The hamlets are named Kirk, Plymouth, Sherburne Four Corners and South Plymouth.
