Potter is a town in Yates County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region., Potter was home to an estimated 1,775 residents. The town makes up thirty-seven square miles and is located forty-two miles southwest of Rochester City. Potter was established in 1832. Four hamlets make up the town. Their names are East Potter, Potter, Voak and Yatesville. Furthermore, a small portion of Rushville Village is found by the north town line along New York State Route 247 (NYS-247).
