Prattsville is a small and rural town in Greene County, New York. It is at the northern edge of the Catskills Mountains and is approximately 50 miles southwest of Albany., the town had around 600 residents.
Prattsville was established in 1824 and named after Zadock Pratt, a New York State congressman. Pratt helped the town’s early economy prosper by building the world’s largest tannery. Three hamlets make up the town. They are Four Corners, Prattsville and Red Falls. The Hamlet of Prattsville used to be a village.

County Route 10 (Washington Street) approaches NYS-23 from the north, County Route 7 (Hylan Boulevard) approaches from the north-west and County Route 2 approaches from the south.
Most of the town court’s traffic cases are speeding infractions. The typical speeding charge is for going above 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
