The Town of Rockland is located in the northwest portion of Sullivan County , New York. It is within the Catskill Mountains. The town was first settled in 1789, and then established in 1910. The town encompasses the hamlets of Anderson, Beaverkill, Craigle Clair, De Bruce, Deckertown, Grooville, Hazel, Joscelyn, Livingston Manor, Lew Beach, Morsston, Parkston, the similarly named Rockland, and Roscoe. The main population area is Livingston Manor. As of January of 2025, the Rockland town total population was estimated at 3,250. The hamlet of Roscoe is most well-known for its fly-fishing opportunities.
