Smithville is a town in Chenango County, New York. It is part of the Southern Tier region and is approximately thirty miles north of Binghamton., the population was approximately 1,390. Smithville was settled in 1797. In 1808, it was formed as a township. It encompasses fifty-one square miles and consists of numerous hamlets. The hamlets are named Adams Corner, Corbin Corner, Dribble Corner, Lakeview, Lakeville, Smithville Center, Smithville Flats and Tyner.

NYS-41 enters from the west and does the same, heading southeast towards the hamlet. Heading east and west across town is County Route 3 (CR-3). That road is Hammerle Road.
