Sodus, New York
Sodus is a town in Wayne County, New York. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, approximately forty miles northeast of downtown Rochester., the town population was approximately 7,800. The population, especially around the lake area, swells in the summertime. There are two villages in the town, Sodus and Sodus Point. The Village of Sodus is where the town’s government offices and town court are located. The hamlets are named Alton, Joy, Sodus Center, South Sodus, Thortons Corner, and Wallington.

The main road in Sodus is New York State Route 104 (NYS-104). It runs east and west through town. NYS-104 passes the village of Sodus’s north side, then heads southeast, passing several other hamlets, like Wallington and South Sodus. Sodus Point is accessible via County Route 101 (Lake Road), which runs along the south shore of Lake Ontario. CR-101 connects to NYS-104 via the north-south County Route 134 (Maple Avenue). CR-134 intersects with the village of Sodus’ main road, New York State Route 88, at the village square. NYS-88 runs west and south through the village. It leaves the village and heads south until it eventually enters the neighboring southern town, Arcadia.
The Sodus Town Court handles legal matters that occur in town. This includes legal matters stemming from both villages. The court is located in the Sodus Municipal Building on Mill Street, right off Main Street. The Sodus Town Court adjudicates a wide variety of traffic violations. There is no town police force; however the Village of Sodus has a small police department. Tickets from outside the Village of Sodus are written by the New York State Police and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
