Starkey is a town in Yates County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles west of Ithaca. The town is considered part of the Finger Lakes region. Seneca Lake forms the eastern town line., the population of Starkey was estimated at 3,500. The town encompasses the Village of Dundee. It is the main population area of Starkey and the location of town offices. The hamlets in the town are Glenora, Lakemont and Starkey.

The town’s main road is New York State Route 14 (NYS-14). It runs north-south through the eastern part of town and hugs the western bank of Seneca Lake. The road travels through the hamlets of Starkey, Lakemont and Glenora. Several wineries are found on this road. Running east and west through Starkey is County Route 40/42 (Dundee Lakemont Road). It connects the Village of Dundee to NYS-14. Another large road that runs through the western part of town is New York State Route 14A (NYS-14A). It runs north and south, cutting through Dundee. It is the village’s main road.
