Truxton is a town in Cortland County, New York. The county is part of the Central New York region. Truxton is around 30 miles south of Syracuse and around 50 miles north of Binghamton., its population was approximately 1,089. The town is named after Thomas Truxtun a Navy Commander during the Revolutionary War. The first Truxton settlers arrived sometime in 1793. In 1808 the town was formed. Three hamlets make up the town. They are Cheningo, Crains Mills and Truxton. Truxton is a popular destination during the summer and winter due to the town’s large campground and ski resort. The Forest Lake Campground can hold over 100 families during the summer season.
