Town of Tyre, New York

Tyre (pronounced “tire”) is a town in Seneca County, New York. The hamlets in Tyre are Evans Corner, Mays Point, Munsons Corner, and Tyre. Traffic Tickets in the Town of Tyre

Most traffic stops in Tyre occur on the passing interstate, I-90 (New York State Thruway). It runs east-west through the entirety of town. The Thruway is patrolled exclusively by Troop “T” of the New York State Police. Speeding violations are the most common basis for a traffic stop. The speed limit on I-90 is 65 miles per hour. Often motorists are clocked going 80 miles per hour or higher. Any citations issued on the interstate will be adjudicated by the Tyre Town Court (Town of Tyre Justice Court). On local roads, traffic stops can be conducted by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office in addition to state troopers. Traffic tickets issued on local streets are also adjudicated by the Tyre Justice Court. The main local roads are US-Route 20 (Auburn Road), County Route 101 (Gravel Road), New York State Route 89 (NYS-89), and New York State Route 414 (NYS-414). US-20 runs through the southeast corner of town. CR-101, NYS-89, and NYS-414 all run north and south. NYS-414 is by the western town line and provides access to the interstate. CR-101 cuts through the center of town, and NYS-89 runs north-south through the Wildlife Refuge.

The majority of motorists stopped in Tyre are not from the area. A common mistake such motorists make is to send the ticket back to the court with a guilty plea, assuming the costs will be minimal. This is often a blunder. Serious traffic charges, like speeding violations, carry high fines and fees. Pleading guilty will also result in the conviction transferring to your home state driving record. The motorist will then have to pay significantly higher car insurance premiums for several years. Some motorists send in the ticket with a guilty plea under the assumption that there is nothing that can be done to defend the charges. This is another costly mistake. The fact is that serious traffic charges can be avoided if they are handled properly. Good legal work can get violations dismissed or modified without presenting any sort of defense. Finally, this can all be done without the motorist having to appear personally in court. You can call the Benjamin Goldman Law Office to find out more.
