Tyrone is a rural town in Schuyler County, New York. It is located approximately twenty-five miles north of the small city of Corning, approximately ten miles west of Watkins Glen, and approximately eighty miles northwest of Binghamton. The area is known as the Finger Lakes region, and Tyrone is situated between Keuka Lake to the west and Seneca Lake to the east. The town encompasses two minor lakes: Waneta Lake and Lamoka Lake. , the town population was estimated at 1,600. Tyrone covers a total area of forty square miles and includes the hamlets of Atlay, Shorewood, Tyrone, Wayne Village. and Weston.

It is one of the main roads leading to the neighboring Village of Sylvan Beach. This road is heavily used by visitors during the summer months. NYS-236 is the town’s arterial road. It enters from the south and east and runs through the center of town. Intersecting with NYS-236 is CR-23. CR-23 runs east and west through the southern part of town.
