Varick, New York
Varick is a town in Seneca County, New York. It is part of the Finger Lakes region, and the town is sandwiched between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake., Varick had an estimated population of 1,800. The hamlets of East Varick, Fayette and Romulus make up the town’s residential areas. During World War II, part of the town was appropriated by the US Government to form the Seneca Army Depot. It mostly served as a munitions depot. A number of notable anti-war protests took place at that site over the years. In 2001, the army discontinued its use and closed the base. A portion of the area is used as a conservation park for unique all white deer.
