Watson is a rural town in Lewis County, New York. It is a large town, covering 115.7 square miles. The town is located in the Tug Hill region, approximately 30 miles southwest of Watertown, approximately 40 miles north of Rome, and approximately 90 miles northeast of Syracuse., the population of Watson was estimated at 1,700. The area was initially settled around 1815. The town is named after an early landowner named James Watson. Watson encompasses five hamlets named Bushes Landing, Petries Corners, Pine Grove, Sperryville, and Watson.
