Weedsport is a village in Cayuga County, New York. It is located approximately thirty miles west of Syracuse and is considered part of the Central New York region. The village is also approximately ten miles north of Owasco Lake and is considered part of the Finger Lakes region.
Weedsport is within the town of Brutus and is the town’s main residential area. Two brothers with the last name of Weeds owned a port at the nearby Erie Canal, thus the name Weedsport. , it was home to an estimated 1,800 residents.
