West Monroe, New York
West Monroe is a town in Oswego County, New York. It is considered part of the Central New York region and is roughly twenty-five miles north of Syracuse. Oneida Lake forms the southern boundary of the town., West Monroe’s population was estimated at 4,000. The hamlets of Mallory, Toad Harbor, and Voorhees Corners are located in West Monroe. The area was first settled in 1806. The lake was the main reason people moved to the area. Boat building and salmon fishing were important industries. Nowadays, the lake is mostly used for recreational fishing and boating.

County Route 37 (CR-37) serves the town’s western area, running parallel to most of the western town line. It intersects NYS-49 near Interstate 81. County Route 84 (CR-84) and County Route 26 (CR-26) serve the northern West Monroe area. The county routes connect the remaining residential areas to NYS-49 via County Route 11 (CR-11), which terminates as it meets NYS-49.
The town has no local police department. The West Monroe Town Court (also known as the West Monroe Justice Court) adjudicates tickets issued by the New York State Police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. The court handles various violations like texting while driving, disobeying a traffic control device, and following too closely. Speeding tickets are issued as well. The court is located within the West Monroe Town Hall building on County Route 11.
