Town of Gorham, New York
Gorham is a town in Ontario County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles south of Rochester and is considered part of the Finger Lakes region. , Gorham was home to an estimated 4,200 residents. The town covers fifty-three square miles and encompasses the hamlets of Cottage City, Crystal Beach, Gorham, and Greens Landing.
The Town of Gorham also includes the northern part of the village of Rushville. The other part of the village is in the Town of Potter, in Yates County. It is not so uncommon for a village to be split in two towns, but it is rare when the towns are in different counties.

The Gorham Justice Court has jurisdiction over all the roads in town. The town does not have a police department so all traffic tickets are issued by deputies of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office or troopers of the New York State Police. The town has several large roads that run north and south. Along Canandaigua Lake runs New York State Route 364 (East Lake Road). It passes through the hamlets of Cottage City and Greens Landing. Entering the town from the north, off US-Route 20, is New York State Route 247 (NYS-247). This heads south until it reaches Rushville. It passes through Reed Corners along the way. County Route 17 is another road that branches off US-20 in the neighboring town of Canandaigua. It heads south into Gorham and terminates at the intersection of it and County Route 18 (CR-18). CR-18 runs northwest and southeast across town from Reed Corners to Gorham. Heading southwest from Gorham to Rushville is New York State Route 245 (NYS-245).
