Ramapo is the name of a large town in Rockland County, New York. It sits on the New York-New Jersey border approximately forty miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan., the town's population was estimated to be around 152,000. It is the 8th largest town, by population, in New York State. Ramapo encompasses eleven villages and eight hamlets.

This means any violation alleged to have occurred within these ten villages are handled in the respective village court. The town court has jurisdiction over the rest of the town and the village of Kaser.
