Chester is a village in Orange County, New York. It is located at the southeastern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, approximately sixty miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan. The village is located within the Town of Chester., the estimated village population was 4,000.
Traffic Tickets in the Village of Chester
The Chester Village Court gets traffic tickets from Route 17 (NYS-17/US-6), which crosses through the village. Traffic stops on Route 17 are conducted by Troop F of the New York State Police. Most highway traffic tickets are for speeding violations. The village court also gets traffic tickets from local streets. There are two main roads in the village. Crossing east-west is Brookside Avenue. Beyond the village, it continues as New York State Route 17M (NYS-17M). It brings motorists to Goshen in the west and Monroe in the east. Another busy road in Chester is New York State Route 94. It runs northeast-southwest through the village. In the southern part of the village, the NYS-94 is two lanes in each direction. As it enters the downtown area of the village, the road narrows to one lane in each direction, and the speed limit is reduced. The NYS-94 is then named Academy Avenue, and as it continues northeast it is named Main Street, and finally High Street as it leaves the village. On local roads, traffic stops are generally conducted by officers of the Village of Chester Police Department.
